Indian cricket fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was devastated by a no-ball that turned out to be a huge help for Australia on the fourth day of the 4th Test match in Melbourne on Sunday. The incident happened in the final over of the day, when Bumrah dismissed Nathan Lyon from the match but was disappointed as the umpire signalled a no-ball. With India needing a wicket to beat Australia, Lyon sent a ball from Bumrah straight to KL Rahul at slip. But the joy didn’t last long as he was denied a five-wicket haul by a no-ball and his disappointing reaction said it all. Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah bowled more destructively but Australia fought back doggedly on Sunday to reach 228-9 and lead by 333 in the highly anticipated fourth Test.

On the fourth day in Melbourne, Bumrah ripped through the middle order to reach 4-56 from 24 overs, giving India a fighting chance to win in a match largely dominated by the home side.

Jasprit Bumrah brought Lyon into the match without a ball; he was phenomenal in this BGT.

But India’s hopes were dashed by a stubborn unbeaten final-wicket stand of 55 from 17.5 overs.
Nathan Ryan batted for 41 and number 11 Scott Boland smashed through 65 balls before being left not out for 10. Australia led by 105 in the first innings but were reeling from the loss of four of their 11 wickets midway through the second session to languish at 91-6.

Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins responded with a crucial 57-run partnership to put Bumrah’s attack on the front foot.

The charming Labuschagne scored 70 to back up his first-innings run of 72, while Cummins scored a captain-hitting 41 to take his Test total to a career-high 90.

Both teams will be looking to take a 2-1 lead in the series ahead of the fifth and final Test in Sydney.
